Ugh, I hate that people think giving their niece or daughter or whatever a LIVING RABBIT is a cute or fun idea for an Easter gift. It's an ANIMAL, not a gift, it can't just be "given" to someone as an Easter present!

I love looking, reading and watching pet facts because they never bore me. I find it excited to see something I never realised before and rabbits are so unique because so many people have the little bundle of fluff they don't realise half of what they actually relate to. πŸ™‚

I don't get why people get a rabbit (or another animal) and then just sell/give it away! if you wanted an animal, then you are supposed to love it! not just get bored of it and give it away! my rabbit died in November and I loved him, and I still do, even though he isn't here anymore. and I wish he was here, but I'm glad that I could be with him till the end. I didn't have many friends, so he was kinda my best friend….
now I have two hamsters, because after my rabbit died i felt so lonely…

Erin, it'd be so awesome if you'd respond because IΒ  really need some help. 2 days ago, my hamster passed away from unknown reasons, but I think it was because of bad breeding as I bought her from a pet shop. I only have one rescue and no breeders near me but I'm scared to get a hamster from a rescue in case it passes away as well.

The best breeder I could find is 2 hours away, and I was wondering if a young hamster could make a 2 hour trip without getting too stressed. What do you think?

So interesting! I love how you spread the word of the commitment for rabbits too and how so many can often end up in shelters. It breaks my heart to know that so many will be abandoned. πŸ™

My friend always gets pets but gives them away a month after so I told her she shouldn't get a rabbit because she thought taking care of 2 gerbils was hard a rabbit was 10 times harder but she still got one and has had it for a week and she is giving it away because she is allergic.

    You forgot two!
    1. Despite having continuously growing teeth, rabbits are not rodents
    2. Wild rabbits (and possibly domestic ones) participate in the act of coprophagia, which is eating their own feces! πŸ˜€

I've researched and work a lot on rabbits and I'm finally getting mine during Easter since that's a time that I am off from school but most people think i just want a rabbit cause.. It's Easter and people criticize for it I'm not doing anything wrong!

I could never imagine sending my rabbit away to a shelter just because he failed to entertain me… He was a gift from my parents for my 16th birthday. I will have had him 4 years this September. He's been a dick, boring on occasion, high maintenance, and sick as hell once (almost 1k worth of sick)… but I wouldn't trade him for the world. He was sick last year with a primarily fatal disease commonly found in rabbits.. I was stressed as hell for the those months he was sick between vet bills, vet visits, changing his environment, having to bath him because he was covered in urine everyday, tediously giving him medicine, and just the overall stress of deciding whether or not to put him out of his misery… but I told him everyday I wouldn't have changed my mind about him even if I knew that was going to happen. Wouldn't have asked for a different rabbit either. He made a full recovery since then. End the double standard. You wouldn't give your kid back to the hospital just because he was boring, sick, or occasionally cranky. If you love your bunny, it will return the favor.

Please reply!!! So, if I don't have any bedding left over and don't have any money, would it be ok if I shredded newspaper and used it as the base only temporarily?

Hi! I have a question, I'm planning on adopting a pair of bunnies that I met at a shelter and just fell in love with, however I do have a cat that I worry about being a threat to the bunnies. So is there any way to cat proof a bunny cage? I'm worried about him sticking his paw through the slots of the cage and hurting one of them. I also have guinea pigs but they are in a room that can be enclosed and it was not recommended at my shelter to house guinea pigs in the same room as rabbits as the smells could make the rabbits territorial or feel unsure. Anyways I just need information on what a safe cat proof bunny cage would be? Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!
