Happy Birthday!! Yes, Ragdolls are cool like that.

Your kitties are so gentle. Koko wouldn't bother with a gentle paw…he'd be more likely to roll over, and grab onto my hand with claws. Okay, sometimes he's gentle, but usually he's more aggressive. Do ragdolls often act aggressively, or is it more likely mine was abused at one time (he's a stray, so I don't know his history).

i think it has to do with the owner – if i would have pulled my hand away, he might have extended his claws – but since i submitted, he didn't want to "hurt" me. it defnitely might have to do with Koko's past experiences. You can work on building that trust over time, though, I think.

i celebrate my cats every day – so their birthdays aren't much more than their birthdays. we don't do anything special per say – because every day they are special.

Will do ! He ( Baloo ) isn't crazy about being brushed either lol ! He'll sit there for about 3 minutes before he starts pawing and biting at the brush.

Looks like a great brush. My ragdoll sheds badly, partially because of his illness. He doesn't mind being brushed but I have tried so many. This looks like one that may be great for him. Thanks for sharing.

Any update on how good is it? My ragdoll doesn't mind being brushed, but my current brush is kinda small and cheap. This looks perfect for long haired cats.

Any particular reason you only get male cats?

  35. bgwillia21207 January 24, 2015 at 3:25 am - Reply

Just got my Ragdoll Will and find I have to brush him two to three times a day because of all that loose undercoat!  So I'll look into seeing more about that Rakom in action: how much loose undercoat it can get in a sweep versus the "slick" brush that came with him.  Tried two others: one almost useless for longhairs and the other tends to dig in making Will uncomfortable.  He seems forgiving as he just loves being brushed and we're trying bond together that way.

Watching your videos It seems like Charlie knows to nod his head to say both no or yes like a human does. It's just me being paranoid or he can really do that? lol

Wow.. 2012, I'm way late seeing this! I dunno.. my 6yr old rag I only have to brush right after a bath, so about 5 or 6xs a year max. That is, actively brush. I check him for mats around the ears, collar, and chest but even then he removes his own mats with the regular hair brush I designated for him. He's a strange cat I guess. I just hold the brush in an upright position and starts rubbing his face and head and paces rubbing each body part until he's brushed himself.. even the butt area (of course I remove his collar for this). He's done this since he was 6mo. I guess he just likes the feel of the brushing. So really all I have to do is hold the brush and he does the work. But then, I'm home alone all the time and we have a very intense trust of one another. I have an anxiety disorder and when a panic attack hits he'll come from the other side of the apartment and lay against my chest with the deep healing purr and it instantly calms me. I can't really describe the relationship. He's kind of like the caretaker my husband and I cannot afford. LoL! LOVE ragdolls!! They're so in tuned with their owners, beyond anything I've seen from other breeds!
