Hey Dede. I love this video. I work as a dog Bather at a grooming salon that is locally owned by a lady and she is teaching me how to groom on the side as well. I learned how to cut nails, grind them, clean cuts and wounds on an animal, brush out as well, and sanitary cut. I’m 20 years old and I love it. The only thing I wish is I can be more aggressive to telling the dog no and to stand still and actually listen to me. Any advice? Thanks De.

Animal behavior college online sends you tools along with study books, grooming videos and you get 100+ hours of internship hours. For me personally it was one of the best decistions of my life. I love my job for the first time in my life. But it is hard work, you have to remember that the pet didnt schedule the grooming appointment lol,

Dede, as a fellow groomer, I agree 💯!!! I’m a PetSmart groomer (I know I know 😷🤣 but still a groomer) and we see bathers (usually a pre req to grooming, bathe, dry dogs. Some paw trims and Sani trims. Nails. Ears.) come and gooooo cause they come into this profession thinking “I loveeee dogs. I wanna play with dogs all day!!!” They start training and a few weeks in, getting growled at, sore back, soaking wet, exhausted, stressed, at times wanna cry, getting pooped/peed/anal gland on/puked on…. and they quit. Because it’s NOT what they think it is. You REALLY need to understand it’s not rainbows and butterfly’s and pretty sweet little puppies licking your face. It’s a WONDERFUL profession that is SO rewarding, BUT it’s not for everyone. Even animal lovers! I know some super super super animal lovers, who work with rescues and they say “I couldn’t do your job! Thank you for doing it”! Anyone who wants to groom, make sure it’s for you, and then do it! Like Dede say. Make it happen! Volunteer. Apply as an apprentice or bather at local groomers if you don’t like corporate places (I love PetSmart and they’re great to me and the animals but I know not everyone agrees!). You can do this!!!

Gurl! Thank you for everything you do! I dropped out of vet tech school recently for health issues and unfortunately even though im doing better the program ended at my school. I have been watching your videos and they have really educated me (even though i have so much more to learn) about what its like to groom animals. Once im settled in my new job ill definitely be buying some starter tools so i can start practicing on my own pets and eventually when im more confident, the shelter pets. This video inspired me to grt the ball rolling today! Thank you so much!

Dede, you are just AMAZING!! I just started out learning to groom and I am so excited! You have taught me a lot and I am very grateful for that. You inspire me even more and I will be ordering supplies from you soon. I am going to volunteer at a local rescue and I did order an online course that I just completed. I just wanted to tell you how greatly I appreciate your video's and how much knowledge you have and provide to your viewers! You are the best!!

Dede, you’re so awesome! I’m not a groomer but I groom my two dogs and my father’s dog, too. Your videos are so helpful. Thank you!

I took a 1 month introductory grooming course at a community college. I never knew dogs pooped on the table. It was very humbling and informative. It let me know I wanted to continue as a professional groomer. I then took a 3 month course for a certificate at a grooming school. I'm going to take another 3-4 month class for proficiency, I'm trying to figure out where I want to go for the best experience. The most important part of grooing is learning to be an efficient and proficient bather/dryer, this sets the quality of the final groom! I will be mobile grooming!

I appreciate you so much Dede, if it wasn't for you, your videos, and your shop I would have never got the confidence to turn around my life and chase a daydream. Thank you for everything!

I’m starting a grooming course for beginners next week, I am a student, I LOVE being with dogs and connecting with them. I have volunteered at shelters and My grandfather raised Labradors and I’ve had dogs all my life! I don’t know what to do! My biggest question is Should I go to college? Currently in high school and want to be a groomer and being a handler and a breeder. Being a veterinarian doesn’t really interest me, any advice? I really need help

If someone asks me the same question I have a note in my notes on my phone and I copy and paste! I tell my boyfriend, to do the same that does motion animation because people ask on insta all the time I said just have a damn note and copy and paste you can't worry about it all the time writing the something out for 30 mins wasting time out of the day!

I currently work at a vet clinic with the boarding and day boarding dogs. We also bathe them. I love seeing the grooming dogs when I take them up to their owners. I am wanting to become a groomer. I love your videos ❤️

Wow, I really didn’t put it in that Perspective about dog grooming. I unfortunately know myself and I know dog grooming isn’t for me even though i have been around dogs but I have always have feared of dogs biting so this was really a eye opener thanks so much for this video helped me alot and now i know this wouldn’t be the idea 💡 job for me ❤️

Honest and direct! I like that! It's refreshing actually! I don't think I could be a groomer, but I would like to be able to groom at home. I am researching which dog would be best as my husband and I are getting older. Currently we are caring for his mother and so we can't have a dog right now, but hopefully we can in the future. I would like a 'non" shedding dog that would be easy enough for someone to home groom. Relatively small- medium dog. Any suggestions?

Interesting video. This is the first video I've seen of yours. I used to be a Veterinary Nurse years ago and I honestly really miss working with animals. It's my dream to have a mobile grooming business one day. I will do it when I can 😊 thanks for the advice.

Working with animals is not easy for some people; I never had a problem having began at age 11 working at a yard (horses, Americans, I think call it a barn!). My Dad bred Boxers in the 50's and 60's so I have been very lucky. I still ride and have four dogs, one of whom I groom myself. I would not want to get into the industry, the horse world is nasty enough !! x

I am recovering from depression and anxiety and I am in year 11 (10th grade) . Throughout this difficult time my love for animals has grown even more. I want to be a dog groomer, I am extremely patient and love all animals. I’m thinking of volunteering for a animal shelter during the summer and then taking a course on professional dog grooming and then finding a job. I would love your opinion on this. I’m only 16 by the way x
