This demo is so thorough and helpful; just what I was looking for, for my little Cavalier's floppy ears!

After watching other videos which showed people only cleaning the inside top of the ear, going nowhere near the canal, I feel so much better having watched this.

I started to watch this for more info on ear mites and appreciated the model shown but after the condescending way she talked to the audience she's obviously trying to only get you to see your vet.

My adopted dog came from Spain with ear mites and I had to treat her right ear. I thought she was fine until the other day I was petting behind her ears and heard that smacking sound. I've been trying to clean her ears with cotton and a lot of liquid dark brown gunk comes out. Is that just excess wax build up or should I take her to the vet? Thank you for the instruction video.

No dog expert by any means but I do know a few more things she didn't mention. If your dog loves to swim it's a really good idea to clean ears after they've had a bath. Oh also check and clean their paws after swimming. Clean in between them and the bottom then dry them really good. It'll help with not letting bacteria form and change color. I clean my dogs ears about twice a week really good and once after post swimming bath. Also, I check him out following a bath look at his teeth, his paws, ears, eyes, body and fur. To see if there's anything unusual or sensitive that might be a sign of a problem. Like are the ears really red and warm all the way to the tips? Or are they soft and pink? Eyes are they cloudy, bulged or appear to be sunken into the ear sockets? Or are they free of debris, not cloudy or puffy and sensitive? Does your dog jerk/growl/try to bite when touched on their stomach, hips and back area etc? Save you from big problems with your dog and keeps them healthy.

Is this for a daily/weekly cleansing of the ear, or is this for an infected ear?
