Great information!!! Will try it on my Doll Face, but I'm sure he's going to attempt to murder me in the process.  These cats are very exceptional!

Could you do a video on how to do a full grooming on a not so easy to handle cat?

So glad to have found your channel! I am a trainee cat/dog groomer from Wales and am hoping to gain as much knowledge and experience as I can, especially with cats as groomers are few and far between here. Your videos are very helpful and informative. I can't wait to see more. Xx

I live in upstate ny and cannot find any groomers by me to do lion cuts. I my himlayan has some matts that are a pain to get out. My cat is deaf and declawed. How could I book an appointment with you and how much do you charge?

Those cats are beautiful and the chillest kitties I've ever seen. Maybe they figure they survived a hurricane and abandonment so things could only get better for them. It seems like they have a very kind and loving owner. 🙂

@petmaven what kind of razor do you use on Persians? Duchess has very sensitive skin so i cannot go in reverse, but i just ordered a 15 razor blade to go shorter. what do you think about this idea?

Both of them are so cute. Machu definitely looks lighter after the haircut. Good job!

Hi! I'm a solo groomer at an animal hospital, and the hardest part of my job right now is solo cat grooming. Obviously I can manage nail trims, hygiene cuts, and baths, just fine. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to SAFELY get a clean, even cut on a cat by myself. All the videos i've found are like yours- someone with an assistant. Unfortunately, the crew at the animal hospital is getting tired of me constantly paging for a second set of hands. Do you have any tips on solo shaving? Or handling less-than-compliant animals for grooming? Again, I've youtubed it and all i can find are people handling fractious cats for medical purposes. I can't groom a cat covered in a wool blanket!

HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT VETS SEDATING CATS TO GROOM THEM? I LIVE IN SWEDEN AND WE DONT REALLY HAVE GROOMERS HERE FOR CATS SO THE VETS IS THE ONLY OPTION AND THEY WILL NOT GROOM WITHOUT SEDATION.

That cat is so laid back! If I tried to do that with my Persian, I'd be in the emergency room.

WHAT BRAND AND MODEL ARE YOU USING IN THIS VIDEO?…

  24. Pamela D May 15, 2016 at 1:09 am - Reply

I have to agree with Barbie. I would also be in the ER. Even with my husband helping they get so upset. We have a main coon who never matts but our two persions we have to brush to keep the matts at bay. Our fancy feast white person attacked the groomer so bad that she couldn't handle him. This was after our Vet gave Truffles a sedative. They are all rescue cats. We have 8. I seriously wonder if it has something to do with their past. It has taken Truffles a full 3 years to completely trust us. So sad.

PS I wish someone would do a video on less co operative cats. That would be a great learning tool.

My family is lucky enough to include a 1 year old Maine Coon and a 6 month Ragdoll, living in a small town with limited pet grooming services your content (which is the most informative on all YouTube) has give us the confidence to groom our own cats, many thanks.

Thank you very much for the video. Love it. I have two Himalayan cats. One is a stress case and has already lost one eye due to being a stress case and so for years, I've been grooming them myself. I've ordered 3 different clippers over a span of 9 years and none work as well as the one you are using in this video. I usually have to make several passes with a number 10 blade to get it leveled and short. Would you be kind enough to let me know what the model number is of the Andis Excel that you use. There seems to be several on the market. The clippers should have the model number. I would be very grateful and so would my high stress cats. I'm sure the grooming process would go quicker. I've ordered 2 other Andis clippers and one was useless and the other one worked well for a few times and seemed to dull fast. I follow all of the care instructions of the clippers and it still seems to be problematic.
    Many thanks in advance.

MACHU!!! Such a docile baby! It must be blue and white Bi-Color Persians. My blue and white, Frodo, is about as docile as Pichu. You do wonderful work. If you ever retire to coastal North Carolina you can definitely groom my sweet boy.

I'll have what kitty's drinking! Ha! My loving quarter Persian longhair kitty turns into a wild cougar when the nail or electric clippers come out. I should probably be in complete armor for the grooming session. We get through it, though, because I'm not paying for vet sedation or chance a rough handling groomer. I wish there was a gentle sedation to give her at home. Oh well. When my little lion emerges free of all that fur, she's happy as can be. The fur grows back silky soft. She loves the freedom and feeling cooler during hotter seasons.

Great video. i would like to know how to take care of my cat who just had a lion cut. Do i still brush/comb? and do i put the same amt of Cheristin flea medicine on her? It seems like a lot for a cat with not much fur now. Hope someone will tell me.
